Vancouver Island, located off the west coast of Canada, is a stunning destination for Hiking, Climbing enthusiasts. With its rugged coastline, lush rainforests, and towering peaks, Vancouver Island offers a diverse range of outdoor adventures for all levels of experience.



One of the most popular hiking destinations on Vancouver Island is the West Coast Trail.


This 75-kilometer trail runs along the rugged and scenic coast of

the island, and offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, old-growth forests, and

wildlife such as bears, whales, and sea

lions.


The West Coast Trail is a challenging hike that takes 5 to 7 days to complete, and requires a permit and reservation to access.

For those looking for a shorter, but still challenging hike, the Juan de Fuca Trail is a 47-kilometer trail that follows the rugged coastline from China Beach to Botanical Beach. This trail is known for its steep terrain, waterfalls, and tide pools, and takes 3 to 4 days to complete.






Vancouver Island is also home to a number of world-class climbing destinations, including Crest Creek Crags, Mount Wells, and the Stawamus Chief. Crest Creek Crags, located near Courtenay, offers over 150 routes for climbers of all levels, with scenic views of the ocean and mountains. Mount Wells, near Victoria, is a popular destination for bouldering and sport climbing, with over 200 routes to choose from.


The Stawamus Chief, located near Squamish, is one of the largest granite monoliths in the world and offers challenging multi-pitch routes for experienced climbers.


In addition to hiking and climbing, Vancouver Island also offers a range of other outdoor activities, such as kayaking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The island is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including orcas, humpback whales, bald eagles, and black bears.
